Effective from 27 October 2026
Privacy Policy
This is the privacy policy for Top Tick (ABN 25 660 967 206), based in Queensland. In this policy "I" and "me" means Michael, who runs it.
What I collect
When you ask for a free check, I collect your name, business name, email, your suburb and state or Google Maps link, and your phone number if you choose to give it. When you send the form, Netlify also records your IP address, your browser type and the page you sent it from, which helps filter out spam. If you become a client I'll also keep the details I need to do the work and bill you, and the photos and approvals you send me.
You don't have to give me any of it. If you leave something out I may not be able to do your check or get it back to you.
I look at your public Google listing. Once you add me as a manager, I can also see the listing's own figures, such as calls and direction requests.
What I use it for
To do your check, send it to you and get in touch about it. If you gave me a phone number, I'll only ring if you've asked me to talk you through it. You can also just tell me not to.
I'll only send you tips or offers by email or text if you ticked the box asking for them. Every one of those messages has a way to unsubscribe, and I'll act on it within 5 business days.
Who else handles it
I don't sell your details or share them for anyone else's marketing. A few services store or move them for me:
- Form and website hosting: Netlify, Inc. (United States) hosts this site and stores what you send through the check form on its systems in the United States. Each entry is checked for spam by Akismet, run by Automattic (United States), and a copy is emailed to me.
- Email: Google Workspace, run by Google. Google has servers around the world, so emails and what's in them may be stored or processed outside Australia.
- Subscriptions, payments and tax invoices: Stripe (Stripe Billing). Stripe says it sometimes moves personal data to other countries, including the United States and India.
- Accounting records: Xero. Xero says data may be moved to and processed in countries such as Australia, New Zealand and the United States.
- Review texts for clients: when a client's customer says yes to a review text, I keep that customer's first name and mobile number only to send that one text, using ClickSend (Sinch ClickSend). ClickSend may process message data outside Australia, including in North America. I delete those details within 30 days of that client leaving me, and anyone who opts out isn't texted again. I don't send review texts for health practitioners.
So some of your details may be stored or processed overseas, including in the United States, elsewhere in North America, New Zealand and India, and in other countries where these companies run their services.
Cookies and the form
This site doesn't use advertising trackers or Google Analytics.
The check form is part of this site and doesn't load anything from other companies. This site sets no cookies at all. What you type goes to Netlify, which stores it for me.
Keeping it safe, and for how long
I keep your details in password-protected accounts, use two-step sign-in on my own accounts, and I'm the only one who can get into them.
Form entries come out of my Netlify account within 6 months. If you don't become a client, I delete your check details, including the email copy, within 6 months. If you do, I keep your details while I'm working for you, and invoices for as long as the tax rules say (usually five years).
Seeing, fixing or deleting your details
Email or text me and ask. I'll show you what I hold, correct it, or delete it, unless I have to keep something by law, such as invoices for tax.
Complaints
Talk to me first and I'll try to fix it. If you're not happy with the answer, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
